River Valley Players is proud to open their 47th season with Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5: The Musical” – directed and choreographed by Deanne Crook and music direction by Mary Kramer Kieffer and a cast of local favorites and new faces – with a fun-filled weekend of performances May 4-7.

There will be two show-only performances featuring delicious desserts and coffee – a 7:30 pm evening show on Thursday, May 4, and a 1:30 pm matinee on Saturday, May 6. The traditional dinner theater shows - featuring buffet dinner, drinks, and dessert - will be on Friday, May 5, and Saturday, May 6 at 6:30 pm, along with a 12:30 pm show on Sunday, May 7.

“9 to 5: The Musical” premiered on Broadway in 2008 and is based on the hit 1980 movie. The show introduces the audience to office workers Violet Newstead (Christine Gaspardo), Doralee Rhodes (Rachel Gorenz-Johnson), and Judy Bernly (Deanne Crook) who plan to get even with their egotistical, lying, and hypocritical boss, Franklin Hart (Chris Kieffer). When their plan spins wildly out of control, the situation becomes hilarious, and the laughter is nonstop. The show features the blockbuster title song, plus music and lyrics written by the award-winning Dolly Parton, mixing Broadway and pop with Parton’s irresistible country style. Those working in the “corporateverse” will identify with the trio’s plans to take back their workplace from their tyrannical boss while also singing along.
